Paradise Valley planning votes against SmokeTree Resort plans

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Paradise Valley Planning Commission has denied plans for redevelopment of the SmokeTree Resort on Lincoln Drive near Scottsdale Road.

It is another setback for efforts to redevelop the resort property.

The planning commission voted 4-3 against the latest plans from Gentree LLC for 115 hotel rooms as well as restaurant space at the property. The vote happened on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and also considered parking and other plans for the resort.

Previous plans called for 122 hotel rooms.

Project plans also call for meeting space and retail shops.

The town of Paradise Valley has been skeptical toward previous plans proposed for the SmokeTree property.
