Peoria staff has been chipping away at revitalizing the Old Town area, and the city recently hit a milestone.
The planning and zoning commission approved a project at 8455 NW Grand Ave. that will allow for a mixed-use development integrating commercial and multi-family uses.
The city council will have final approval, Nov. 10.
The 7.5-acre development dubbed Grand Commons, where the former Smitty’s was located, is still in the conceptual phase. But the proposed project will serve as the northern entryway into Old Town. Officials say it should act as a catalyst for future development.
