Republican incumbent County Supervisor Jack Sellers has won the race in the Southeast Valley’s District 1, ending Democrats’ hope of gaining the seat on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
Sellers narrowly defeated Democrat challenger Jevin Hodge by 403 votes out of more than 470,000 cast in the race. It was one of Maricopa County’s closest legislative or county races and offered Democrats hope that their message resonated with voters despite mixed results in county and state races.
After the last votes were counted on Friday, Hodge wrote on Facebook that he called Sellers to congratulate him and offer support.
