Thinking outside the drive-thru: Peoria commission rejects Taco Bell rezone

The Peoria Planning and Zoning Commission did a rare thing recently — voted down a case that came before the board.

The commission provides recommendations to the city council on a wide array of land-use issues, and they voted 6-1 to block a Taco Bell from coming to 75th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, adjacent to UMB Bank and a residential area.

The reason?

A 24-hour drive through.
