President-elect Joe Biden ’s electoral gains over the weekend, plus the jubilant news Monday of progress on a Covid-19 vaccine, offered enough certainty to buoy luxury housing activity—with some notable exceptions.
Since Election Day, President Donald Trump has launched a variety of legal disputes challenging the results in half a dozen battleground states, including Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Michigan. The effort has kept a contingent of affluent home buyers and sellers in contested states awaiting the outcome of those lawsuits, local agents said.
“Nevada is such a purple state,” said Lisa Song Sutton, partner at Las Vegas-based Elite Homes US, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate. “Especially in the higher end, you have a lot of clients who are conservative.”
