By City of Chandler
The City of Chandler was recognized as one of the top 10 Digital Cities Survey award recipients, by the Center for Digital Government (CDG). The top ranked cities received the award during a virtual presentation, on Nov. 10. The annual survey recognizes cities using technology to tackle social challenges, enhance services, strengthen cybersecurity and more.
Chandler ranked fifth in the category for cities with a population of 250,000-499,999. Chandler’s population was estimated at 266,057 as of Oct. 1, 2020.
Chandler has a long-held commitment to innovation and technology, and looks for opportunities for smart, sustainable solutions and innovative ideas that promote efficiency, productivity and connectivity. It is thanks to these foundational values, that the City was able to pivot and respond to the unique circumstances presented by the pandemic, and continue providing seamless service to its residents.
Shruti Gurudanti, Rose Law Group Attorney and televëda Co-Founder says, “Huge congratulations to the Chandler team especially Parks and Recreation. They all worked so hard amidst the pandemic to innovate and really support the community. When everything was shut down, instead of taking the “wait and watch” approach, they doubled down on the use of technology and served their residents no matter the odds. So glad they’re getting the recognition they so deserve. We are honored that they allowed us to be a part of this momentous journey.”
In 2018, recognizing the serious threat that isolation and loneliness poses to the health of our growing senior population, Gurudanti launched televëda, a health-tech company that delivers content specifically designed for seniors to keep their body and mind active, anytime, anywhere. Since its launch, televëda has also been invited to participate in SEED SPOT’s Impact Accelerator and Y Combinator’s Startup School.
