Fulton Homes, Toll Brothers fill housing gap in affordable Surprise

Surprise has a reputation as an affordable Phoenix-area city, but construction of the first luxury home community in the northwest Valley suburb is underway.

Sterling Grove is expected to include some 2,200 homes sprawled across nearly 800 acres, with the White Tank Mountains in the backdrop.
Beyond selling homes with higher-end finishes, a slate of planned amenities elevate the community into the luxury category, such as a Nicklaus Design golf course, a country club, restaurants and a spa.

Further north on the 303, the Escalante community is going up with extensive amenities that include a zipline.
