Glendale ponders allocation of development funds

The City of Glendale is looking at how to disperse $9 million in community planning and development funds — including $5 million in remaining CARES Act money that needs to be dispersed.

The Glendale City Council will be briefed on Dec. 8 on the money and get recommendations from city staff on how to spend that money.

The current priority list wants to earmark money for affordable housing as well as improve services and housing options of the homeless and other vulnerable populations.

City staff are.recommending dedicating $3.3 million for affordable housing, $3.2 million for homeless services and $1 million to purchase more mobile hotspots and to provide wireless internet in public housing.
