La Paz County Board to look at contracts for new electric transmission project linked to renewable energy developments

The La Paz County Board of Supervisors is scheduled at its Dec. 30 meeting to privately discuss contract negotiations for right-of-way agreements for a large new electric transmission line connecting Blythe, California and Tonopah.

The county board is negotiating potential right-of-way deals with DCR Transmission LLC related to the Ten West Link 500kV transmission line. The board will discuss contracts related to the project in executive session.

The new transmission line aims to improve electricity infrastructure in the Southwest and connect to renewable energy and large scale energy storage projects in Arizona and California.

The project looks to be in operation by 2021.

DCR Transmission is a joint venture led by Starwood Energy Group.
