Opponents of Arizona Prop 208 file lawsuits to halt surtax

Two groups opposing Proposition 208, a measure passed by Arizona voters in November that adds a surtax on the state’s highest earners to fund education, filed lawsuits against the proposition on Nov. 29 claiming it is unconstitutional.


A lawsuit filed by the Goldwater Institute on behalf of several business owners and Republican state legislators claims the proposition violates the state’s constitution and oversteps the authority of Arizona’s initiative process.
