The Scottsdale City Council has approved the rezoning of a church property on Hayden Road to allow for a new residential development.

The council approved the rezoning at its Dec. 7 meeting for the First Church of the Nazarene property on Hayden Road near Oak Street.

The church will continue to operate but plans also call for 26 patio homes to build adjacent to the church.

The property totals 5.2 acres and sits at 2340 and 2322 North Hayden Road. The zoning change designates the parcel for townhouse residential uses.

Arcadia Capital Group wants to develop the patio homes on the church site.

There have been a number of church redevelopments in Scottsdale and other cities. Those have entailed new uses for church properties as well as partnership deals where the church continues to operate but there are new uses brought to other parts of their properties.
