Surprise is closer to its first vertical residential rental development on a downtown parcel.
During its Dec. 17 meeting, the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a site plan for Town at Surprise Center, a gated rental townhouse community of a little less than 15O units. It would be just south of the restaurants like In-N-Out Burger, Panera Bread and Longhorn Steakhouse at the Surprise Civic Center’s northern entrance along Bell Road near Civic Center Drive.
Planning commissioner Dennis Smith said this project fits the city center, and having residential near restaurants make sense.
