While every aspect of the project is not official, it is far enough along to make it official — sometime in 2022 a grocery store will open north of Grand Avenue and off 163rd Avenue in Surprise.
Unless things go south in a hurry, that grocery story will be a Fry’s. Surprise Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic stated in an email that Phoenix-based Barclay Group submitted the plan for the Fry’s Asante 19-acre development on the northwest corner of 163rd Avenue and Pat Tillman Boulevard.
“The plan is inclusive of a grocery store anchor with a pharmacy drive-thru and fueling facility, inline retail shops and at least two out parcels, or separate building lots. The two out parcel building sites will be directly east of the grocery store, but they will be connected by sidewalks, patios and shade structures,” Ms Jerkovic said.
