Mesa looks to restart construction on public safety training building

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Mesa City Council is scheduled to vote on Jan. 11 to restart a Public Safety Training Facility building project

The council will vote on awarding a pre-construction services contract to CORE Construction Inc. for a PSTF burn building. Those structures are used to help train fire fighters.

The procurement totals $30,000 and looks to restart a construction project that stalled in 2016.

The building project was previously bid in 2015 and construction had started in 2016 but the city terminated a previous contract with a contractor, according to council documents.

The partially constructed project ended up being demolished.

Now, the city is back with a new effort for the training facility near McDowell Road and Val Vista Drive.

CORE Construction had previously helped with demolition of the previous incarnation of the project.
