VOCA gives its OK to Hilton

The Village of Oakcreek Association Board of Directors voted 4-2 on Wednesday, Jan. 6, to approve plans for a three-story Hilton Garden Inn at the corner of Jacks Canyon Road and State Route 179.

The vote occurred during an appeals hearing requested by project owners Jack and Chandrika Patel after the HOA’s architecture committee denied approving for a second time plans submitted by the Patels last summer.

At the hearing, Jennifer Boblick, an attorney for the Patels, argued that the HOA’s height restrictions did not apply to the hotel project. She also highlighted elements of the plan that would mitigate light pollution and impact on the red rock views from State Route 179.
