Meritage development could bring hundreds of homes to Goodyear

Meritage Homes is asking the City of Goodyear to rezone 139 acres for a proposed, gated master-planned residential development.

Meritage wants to develop a single-family community called Silva Trails at Citrus Road and Van Buren Street.

The land is currently farmland.

Meritage is asking the land be rezoned for a single family residential designation.

The rezoning request could allow for as many 621 residential units at the West Valley development.

The land was previously slated to be another project called Rose Garden.

Goodyear’s Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to look at the Meritage zoning request at its Feb. 10 meeting.
