Phoenix City Council paved the way last month for new business parks to be built on two properties near the Deer Valley Airport, totaling 272 acres.
City Council unanimously changed the state trust land to more flexible general plan and zoning designations to allow the land to increase the land’s value ahead of its auction. Proceeds from the auctioned land will benefit state services such as education. One of the properties is scheduled to be auctioned in late March.
“(These land use changes will) make sure we have the ability to bring high-wage jobs to our community and really further the great employment hub in District 1,” said Mayor Kate Gallego during a City Council meeting last month.
