Florence looks to boost revenue from cannabis

The town of Florence is eager to take advantage of the sales tax revenue from legal marijuana dispensaries, and councilors asked city staff to draw up a set of codes that will make such sales more permissible throughout the city.

Councilors heard the first reading of proposed development plan changes that would allow marijuana businesses in the city with a plan for a second reading and adoption later this month.

The changes could mean a marijuana dispensary could be headed to any number of the town’s business districts.
