Peoria updates code to allow for recreational marijuana

Peoria City Council unanimously approved updated city code to be in compliance with state regulations on recreational marijuana, March 2.

Under the new state law, Peoria may have dispensaries, cultivation and testing facilities, and the city may regulate them from a zoning perspective.

In Peoria there are two dispensaries that have a recreational component in place — dispensaries at Olive and 91st avenues and Peoria and 91st avenues.

Arizona Department of Health Services, which regulates marijuana in this state, is accepting applications through March 9.
