Alta to expand fintech reach beyond cannabis

Arizona cannabis dispensaries operate in a currency conundrum: Since recreational pot is legal here, but illegal at the federal level, marijuana businesses are shunned by most credit card companies and banks. Consequently, most dispensaries do business in cash.

Alta Solutions LLC, a fintech company in Phoenix, is stepping out of the state’s regulatory sandbox and into the market to give dispensaries another option.
