Rep. Paul Gosar wants Justice Department to investigate ‘OnlyFans’ website

By Rylee Kirk | Arizona Republic

Rep. Paul Gosar is calling on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate the subscription website OnlyFans.com.

The website, founded in 2016 and based in London, allows creators to create accounts and charge a subscription for access. The accounts often are used by people to charge for semi-nude or nude photos of themselves.

Gosar, R-Ariz., tweeted Thursday that the website is “promoting and profiting from, online prostitution.” He also urged the Justice Department to “vigorously protect vulnerable people from platforms that promote coercive immoral and sexual activity.”

Attached to Gosar’s tweet was a letter he addressed to Garland.

Gosar alleged the website “does appear to facilitate and even encourage interstate travel of the sort directly targeted by the Mann Act.”

The official OnlyFans Twitter account, tagged by Gosar in his tweet, had not responded to him as of late Thursday.
