Work is set to start later this summer on five lots along a stretch of Apache Boulevard in Tempe that will be transformed into affordable housing.
The Tempe City Council last month approved setting aside $1.2 million to conduct preliminary environmental and archaeological assessments and other work to prepare the mostly city-owned sites for development.
The city has partnered with two developers to develop four of the lots and will seek a developer for the fifth site.
