Could Goodyear get its own downtown or destination space?

By Taylor Seely | Arizona Republic

First comes the city. Then comes office space. Then come the food and fun that build a sense of place.

At least that’s what city officials in the southwest Valley suburb of Goodyear are banking on for their new Civic Square project they’re calling “the future heart of Goodyear.”

The $87.7 million dollar project in the southwest Valley at McDowell Road and 150th Drive will start with a new city hall, public library and 2-acre grass park.

Scottsdale-based real estate investment company Globe Corporation will build a 100,000-square-foot, three-story office building and a four-story, 900-car parking garage. A second office building and garage could come later.

The rest of the vacant land will be left for future restaurants, entertainment retailers and apartments, townhomes or condominiums.
