Seven apartments can be added at 512 N. Valley Drive to have a 13-unit rental property, the Apache Junction City Council decided recently.
Sridhar Krishnan of AUM Investments, the applicant, sought a planned development major amendment for the 1-acre property zoned high density multiple-family residential by planned development.
“I am so happy about this particular project because I used to go up and down Valley a lot and always wondered why the lot wasn’t completed with extra units so I think this will be a great asset to Valley Drive and the community with the upgrades to the whole property,” Council member Gail Evans said by phone at a June 15 meeting.
The council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance with additions proposed by the city’s planning commission that the applicant enter into the Crime Free Multi-Family Housing Program, make management company contact information available to neighbors and add street improvements.
“All of these units will be updated and revamped — they’ll all match. I also will note that they are all single story so they’re not going to be blocking any views; I know that was a concern,” Planning Intern Morgan Henn told the council.
