Goodyear will get a new vice mayor beginning Friday, June 18.
The City Council voted unanimously during regular session Monday, June 7, to appoint Councilman Brannon Hampton to the position after a motion by his predecessor, Vice Mayor Bill Stipp, who has served in the role since June 2019.
“Go get ’em, tiger,” the vice mayor said to Hampton after making the motion seconded by Councilman Joe Pizzillo.
“Thank you, thank you,” Hampton responded. “Big shoulders to fill.”
“This is really good,” Mayor Georgia Lord said before calling for a vote. “I think you chose somebody who’s been waiting for this, and I look forward to having him as my vice.”
