Scott Phillips hears the question constantly.
“What’s going on with Surprise City Center?” is something he can’t escape as one of the main architects of what’s still evolving as Surprise’s main square mile.
The area bounded by Bell and Greenway roads, Litchfield Road and Bullard Avenue has been the focus of residents for decades. Those who have lived here for any number of years believe development is going at a snail’s pace.
But Phillips said that it’s more strategic.
“It’s more important to do this right, than right now,” Phillips told the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce at a networking meeting July 13. “If we don’t do it right then it’s not worth doing. We can’t go back and fix it if it’s screwed up.”
