CG hopes to build up more pedestrian-friendly commercial zones

CASA GRANDE — The city hopes to make Casa Grande’s commercial areas outside of downtown more pedestrian friendly as the city continues to grow.

City Planner Jim Gagliardi said the city wants to promote dense, pedestrian-friendly regions in the “community corridor” zones, such as the few blocks just north and south of Florence Boulevard.

Since pandemic restrictions were lifted in the early spring, some popular franchises like Salad and Go have opened up, and others are soon to follow. Rosati’s Pizza is due to open in the fall next door to Harkins Theatres for what will be the franchise’s second go-round in the area. Back along Florence Boulevard, construction has begun on a new Texas Roadhouse, and plans were approved recently for another Whataburger.
