FLORENCE – The Pinal County Board of Supervisors gave its preliminary approval to a partnership with a Minnesota developer interested in building and operating affordable-housing communities in Casa Grande and Maricopa.
With the county as a general partner, Roers Companies will be exempt by state statute from real estate taxes, which will help close a $2.2 million gap in financing for each development, the board was told Wednesday.
“So the partnership with you all and the housing authority is integral to the overall financial feasibility of these projects,” James Riley, senior development associate with Roers, told the board. There would be no other financial obligation to the county or its housing authority, he said.
