CASA GRANDE — It’s the place where you can linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty.
How can you lose?
Even as several new hotels and restaurants are set to open up along Florence Boulevard, city planners say they are hoping the downtown area grows into a vibrant and bustling center for activity over the next 10 years. Just like what Petula Clark sang about in the 1960s.
“Downtown is different from the rest of the city because the streets go off at angles,” City Planner Jim Gagliardi said. “It creates this unique place. When you are downtown, you know you’re somewhere different. That is a great layout and recipe for what is to come.”
