Residential and commercial uses are planned south of Apache Junction on 2,783 acres auctioned late last year, with industrial and manufacturing also slated for 5,306 acres of retained Arizona State Trust Land surrounding it.
A proposal to rezone the combined 8,089 acres from general rural low-density single-family residential to master-planned community is working its way through city of Apache Junction government.
The planning and zoning commission is to decide Sept. 14 on its recommendation to the City Council on rezoning the property. The City Council will discuss the rezoning at work sessions Sept. 20 and Oct. 4, with a public hearing and vote Oct. 5. All four meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
