Top 5 cities for construction workers in 2021

In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. construction industry is coming back strong this year. Just 96,000 building permits were issued in April 2020—a five-year low. In contrast, an average of 135,500 building permits per month were issued in the U.S. during the first quarter of 2021.


This bounce back begs the question: Which cities will see the highest demand for construction workers?


We gathered data from the Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics, looking at the opportunity, demand, pay, and cost of living for construction workers. Take a look at the top five cities for construction workers below.
