Despite pleas from an overwhelming majority audience at a Town Council meeting last week, Wickenburg Town Manager Vince Lorefice is not rescinding his resignation.
Lorefice’s last day with the Town will be Sept. 17 after eight-and-half years of employment, the first four as public works director. Wickenburg Police Chief Les Brown was named interim town manager by the Town Council on Monday.
“It has been an absolute pleasure working with the Town Council and the residents as your town manager,” Lorefice said. “While I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support this past two weeks from so many people, my family, and I have made the difficult decision to leave Wickenburg. I wish the Town Council the absolute best in finding my replacement for this great role. On behalf of the Lorefice family, thank you Wickenburg for making us part of your family.”
The first step to replacing Lorefice was filling the interim role. Mayor Rui Pereira said the Council will consider its options for finding a permanent replacement during an upcoming meeting.
