For the past decade, the sport of polo descends upon Scottsdale for one weekend in the fall — a fast, powerful and flashy event that has successfully etched a mark in the international athletic space.
Drawing patrons and players from around the globe, the Scottsdale Polo Party used local Arizona support to grow the event into an eccentric success.
The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Presented by Talking Stick Resort will celebrate its 10th anniversary Saturday, Oct. 23, on the grassy fields of WestWorld — once again opening the vault to the “Sport of Kings.”
New this year: Guests can fly through the air, zip-lining onto the polo field instead just boring walking through the entrance.
The aforementioned entrance style is the exact thing one should expect to see at the Scottsdale Polo Championships — out-of-the-box ideas. Event co-founder Jason Rose says that’s by design.
“From a young age, I’ve had a lot of creative genes. I think it’s been, as you learn business more, whether you’re 15 or you’re 50, whether you had a paper route or you aspire to be a polo producer — it’s not just about the big idea, it’s about the ability to execute it. That has served this event well,” Rose said.
But, he believes it’s been a team effort with the support of local entities including the Arizona Polo Club, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, Neiman Marcus and more.
