Glendale measures aim to propel new development near Westgate, stadium

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Glendale City Council will vote on two measures aimed at bringing a new development to 54 acres of city owned land and 9 acres of adjacent private property at 95th Avenue and Cardinals Way near State Farm Stadium.

The council is being asked to enter into agreements with Plaza del Rio Management Corp. (Sharon Harper and Oliver Harper) to move forward potential development of the parcels.

One measure would allocate $148,500 for site planning and phasing options for a potential development and designate Plaza del Rio as the “owner’s representative” in the project.

Another companion measure would put $28,400 towards Plaza del Rio developing covenants, conditions and restrictions.

The aim is to create a pathway for a potential development in the Westgate area.
