Arizona’s primary elections are still 11 months away but the gloves are already coming off. A group supporting former Congressman Matt Salmon for governor is set this week to launch its first attack ad against one of his main opponents in the GOP primary.

The 30-second spot questions the conservative credentials of former local TV news anchor turned GOP gubernatorial candidate, Kari Lake. “Lake’s a fake who Supported Obama” the narrator of the advertisement says, “No on Lake, we can’t trust her.”

“The important thing is to define who Kari Lake actually is rather than let her blather about her alleged conservative thoughts and feelings,” said Barrett Marson, a spokesman for Arizona Best, the PAC funding the ad.
