Maricopa progressing on improvements to east-west corridor

MARICOPA — The city of Maricopa is moving forward with funding to improve the connection with Casa Grande via Val Vista Road, which could provide residents with an easier alternative to State Route 347 when needed.

Mayor Christian Price asked City Manager Rick Horst to explain the details of the agreement and reimbursement.

In 2017, Pinal County voted to have the sales tax increased based on a transportation plan, which included an improved east-west corridor. This roadway goes beyond Maricopa, but the tax is based on the portion within Maricopa. The tax funds around 20% of the roadway project and was never intended to fund 100%.
