CarMax is looking to hire 3,700 new employees by the end of the year — including positions in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta and other markets with larger footprints.

Richmond-based CarMax (NYSE: KMX) has 27,000 employees nationwide.

CarMax has a customer service hub in Tempe and retail locations in Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tolleson and Tucson.

The car dealership chain is looking to bolster its digital, technician and customer service ranks. The company has 220 stores nationwide.

The hiring spree includes adding more 1,400 auto technicians, detailers and painters as well as 700 customer service consultants, 150 digital and technology workers and 900 sales and business associates, the company said Tuesday.

The company is offering signing bonuses of between $1,500 and $7,500 for some positions.

Employers have been struggling to fill some open positions requiring added benefits, bumps in pay and signing bonuses.

“The foundation of our company’s success is our exceptional associates, and we’re looking for candidates who will help us deliver the most customer-centric experience in the industry,” said Diane Cafritz, chief human resources officer and senior vice president at CarMax. “CarMax has a people-first culture and we are steadfast in investing in our associates and providing training opportunities to support their growth and help them build great careers.”
