There’s good news for EPCOR’s San Tan wastewater customers. The Pecan Water Reclamation Facility expansion is now in the last of four phases and on track to finish on time near the first quarter of 2022.

The expansion project is designed to bring the plant up to safety standards that were not met under the previous ownership by Johnson Utilities and increase treatment capacity to meet current and future needs.

In addition to providing more reliability, certainty and safety for customers, the updated facility will support economic growth in the fast-developing San Tan Valley. EPCOR is:

  • Adding 1 million gallons a day of raw sewage treatment capacity to the Pecan facility.
  • Rebuilding the influent pump station and head works where all the wastewater flows come into the facility.
  • Upgrading the disinfection process, including the addition of a chlorine contact chamber to ensure effluent leaving the facility is treated to the right environmental standards for re-use and re-charge.
