Is a fight brewing between Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and her progressive colleagues?

Opinion:Don’t tell me Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego is turning into another Kyrsten Sinema, stubbornly defying her colleagues on a prevailing wage for contractors.

It sure seems so, judging by the latest move from the city’s four liberal council members who are forcing a vote on the prevailing wage next week.

Vice Mayor Carlos García and fellow council members Betty Guardado, Laura Pastor and Yassamin Ansari on Thursday asked the city manager to put the prevailing wage issue up for consideration on Oct. 6.

That tells me the mayor, who sets the agenda, either didn’t agree to it in the first place or that she’s fighting with the colleagues who are most likely to back her pet projects. It takes at least three members to go around the mayor and add anything to the agenda for full cou
