The Scottsdale City Council is scheduled to consider a rezoning request at its Oct. 12 meeting to allow for the redevelopment of a 1.7 acre parcel near Miller Road and 6th Avenue for a new apartment development.
The multifamily project will have some workforce housing units focused on renting to teachers, nurses, firefighters, police officers and other emergency responders.
Toll Brothers wants to redevelop an existing commercial property into the multifamily project.
The development is called The Miller and will have 148 apartment units.
That includes eight workforce housing units, according to plans submitted with the City of Scottsdale.
The multifamily redevelopment is located at 7570 E. 6th Avenue.
The city is being asked to change the parcel’s zoning from C-3 (Highway Commercial) to a Planned Block Development, Downtown Overlay (D/DMU-2 PBD DO), with a development plan and proposed development standards.
The proposed apartment building is 76 feet high, according to design plans.
It is located next to the Camelback Miller Plaza shopping center.
The property is currently home to a vacant drive-thru restaurant building.
The Scottsdale council will look at the rezoning at its Oct. 12 meeting.
