Buckeye city manager sets plans in motion to retire

(Buckeye City Manager Roger Klingler / CITY OF BUCKEYE)

Roger Klingler, Buckeye’s city manager, recently notified City Council that he plans to retire “in the coming months,” according to city documents.

It’s unclear exactly when Klingler plans to retire or when he told Council of his plans. On Monday, Council will hold a workshop with a presentation and discussion regarding the city manager recruitment and selection process, according to the agenda for the meeting.

Executive search firm GovHR USA was selected to assist with recruitment, according to city documents.

The city said Klingler initially announced his retirement on Aug. 31 this year with an effective date of Nov. 30. Since the search process for a new city manager could last beyond Nov. 30, the city said Klingler will extend his retirement until his replacement is hired.
