Goodyear drops bimonthly city meetings

By YourValley

Goodyear has voted to do away with regular city council meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month, and has instead opted to hold meetings “as needed.”

The motion was approved unanimously alongside several other measures Monday as part of its consent agenda.

Previously, city code 2-4-2 stipulated that “Regular meetings of the council shall be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.”

The Nov. 8 vote changed the city code to read, “Regular meetings of the council shall be held as needed to conduct the business of the city in conformance with an annual meeting schedule adopted by the council, subject to amendment and/or modification by Council action.”

The change was approved by voters in the city’s local election on March 9.
