Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport opens first half of $65 million development

A sprawling new $65 million development at Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport recently opened its first wing.

Mesa Hangars, on the southeast corner of Greenfield and McDowell roads, recently opened its first phase of aircraft hangars and office space. Larry Brow, a Leading Edge Real Estate broker who works on the development, said the project’s second phase should be finished and open for tenants in early 2023.

The massive project, which takes up more than one million square-feet of city-owned land at the airport, features hangars with aircraft storage and maintenance. Some hangars are large enough for jets and helicopters. The development is on a 40-year lease from the city, which owns Falcon Field.

As Arizona’s aviation field has grown in recent years, Falcon Field Director Corinne Nystrom said the new hangars fill a vital need.

“We’ve had a severe shortage of hangars here for the past three or four years,” she said.
