New Florence restaurant receives preliminary approval

FLORENCE — A future entertainment center, to be built on a vacant lot downtown, received design review approval Oct. 26 from the Florence Historic District Advisory Commission.

The project will go before the Florence Planning and Zoning Commission in a few weeks.

Darin Wilson, a real estate agent in Florence for 10 years, and his partners plan to build a new 2,100-square-foot restaurant/bar called “The Old Florence Taphouse.” The structure will be a metal building fitted with six garage doors, creating an opportunity for an open-air atmosphere. The building will include a bar, kitchen and support spaces, according to a town staff report.
