New Valley non-profit to host first gala event

A new Arizona non-profit is hosting a black-tie fundraiser next week to help families get through the holidays. While Thanksgiving and Christmas are usually joyous times, the season translates to financial stress for many families. In times like these, Thomas Ma wants to say “Hey, You Got This.”

That’s why he launched his non-profit under the same name, to do various acts of kindness around the community, to spread encouragement and to raise money for people who are struggling and need an extra boost.

“The most common issue is finding the right group to support. So I thought, why not just start a group of people that trust me,” he says.

Hey You Got This is teaming up with the Scottsdale Service Center to adopt families this holiday season. They’re hosting their first ever gala Monday November 8th at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale at 6PM. 100% percent of the proceeds from the event will go towards the cause.

Scottsdale Service center and HYGT find families who are in need of assistance for the holiday. Most of these families go through hardship and their only ask if to buy the family something for the holidays.

Upon entry, each guest must show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test dated within 72 hours of the event. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, you are asked to not attend the event.

More About HYGT

HYGT is a community of support. Through monetary donations and raising awareness, our goal is to impact the lives of wonderful individuals who are struggling for something greater than themselves. We want them to know, “We see you,” “We appreciate you”, and “Hey, you got this.”

So far, HYGT has raised money for a local food bank and selected their first individual beneficiaries, including a struggling mother who was in a difficult work environment and another who needed help with her son’s Autism therapies. Their gala event will be their third “act of kindness” and founder Thomas Ma says he can’t wait.

“This idea was started at the end of July. We’re just starting out. Already we’ve helped a few people and have amazing recipients that will be at our gala event. The excitement is knowing this is the beginning of something that can be big,” he said.
