PGA golfer Rory McIlroy is investing in Scottsdale-based golf company Troon.
Troon announced Nov. 15 that private equity firm TPG Capital and Symphony Ventures (the McIlroy’s investment fund).
The investment will add capital for Troon, the Arizona company said in a release Nov. 15.
“Existing investor Leonard Green & Partners (LGP) will retain a significant investment in the business,” according to an announcement from Troon.

The investment from TPG, a leading investor and business builder, is a testament to the quality and strength of our offering. Troon currently provides operational, management, and advisory services to more than 620 golf and other facilities. Troon owns or leases more than 50 courses that it operates directly, including its flagship Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale.

McIlroy, 32, is one of the world’s top golfers. He has won the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship.
