Scottsdale concerned about long-term revenue prospects

The city’s coffers are full for now but the cash flow could be drying up in 2022, Scottsdale City Treasurer Sonia Andrews warned.

Uncertainty surrounding Scottsdale’s future revenue has Mayor David Ortega concerned about the impact of short-term rentals on the city’s overall population, which affects municipalities’ stake in state shared revenue as well as the size of many federal grants and other funding.

A big portion of the city’s prosperity is coming from people spending their federal stimulus money, Andrews said, noting “Our sales tax revenue growth is historically high.”
