Scottsdale looks at removing, replacing Development Review Board member

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Scottsdale City Council will consider removing Ali Fakih from the city’s Development Review Board at its meeting tonight.

Mayor David Ortega requested the council look at Fakih’s service on the board citing a statute that allows for removal and replacement of members on city boards if they have missed three consecutive meetings or four meetings over six months.

“Mr. Fakih was absent from Development Review Board Meetings on June 17, 2021, August 5, 2021, September 2, 2021, and September 16, 2021,” Ortega said in a correspondence to council.

Fakih has served on the Development Review Board since December 2020 and his term ends in 2023.

Fakih is a principal with Sustainability Engineering Group and also previously served on the Scottsdale Planning Commission.

The item is on the council’s agenda for Nov. 9.
