Officials are mum on specifics of what new proposals entail for the potential development and restoration of a Tempe relic.
Three local companies submitted proposals to redevelop and restore the iconic Hayden Flour Mill property, which has sat vacant for decades at the corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway.
The deadline to submit proposals was Nov. 4.
Maria Laughner, a city spokeswoman, said she could not release copies of each proposal until city officials decide which company they’d like to negotiate with in the near future.
SunBelt Investment Holdings Inc. of Scottsdale, DMB Associates of Scottsdale, and Venue Projects of Phoenix all submitted proposals for the project.
“I am not allowed to share anything until the (city of Tempe officials have) determined which, if any, we will negotiate with,” said Maria Laughner, a city spokeswoman. “Right now, everything in the process is confidential and stays that way until a decision is made.” In August, Tempe councilors asked city officials to reissue request for proposals on the 5-acre property, which sits directly across from the property that once housed Monti’s La Casa Vieja restaurant on south Mill Avenue. The restaurant has since closed and the non-historic portion of the building has been torn down for what will be a larger development.
