The Maricopa City Council selected Council Member Vince Manfredi as the city’s new

vice mayor Tuesday night, replacing Nancy Smith. Manfredi takes over the duties

effective immediately.

Manfredi was nominated by Smith and the vote for him was 7-0.

The vice mayor title is mostly ceremonial but does carry some responsibilities.

The vice mayor runs city council meetings in the absence of the mayor and would succeed

Mayor Christian Price should he leave office for any reason. The vice mayor would

serve until an election could be held to elect a permanent replacement, who would

serve until the next mayoral election.
